The idea of Kuychi Arts was born amid a local travel, when founders could get to know and appreciate first hand the talent and creativity of different craftsmen in different towns. Ecuador is well-known for their art and dedication in the artisan manufacture industry.
Within our product portfolio, we have a wide variety of items for different uses. One of our main goals is to market new artisans through their new arts & crafts created with any material they use.

Panama Hats
Our hats made from toquilla straw (Montecristi Hats) are worldwide known as “Panama Hats”. They got their popular name because they were imported to Panama, where they became popular.
Our hats are woven in different provinces in Ecuador, not only in the Montecristi town. These hats have become a nationwide traditional accessory. Each province has its own knitting mode, but always with their distinctive fancy and elegant design, no matter where the hats were originally crafted.
All of our hats undergo the whole process, starting from the harvesting of the material until the handmade finish of the product.
Bamboo Arts&Crafts
Bamboo is one of the most versatile plants on the planet. It can be used to manufacture ornamental objects, household items, musical instruments and many others. Bamboo is also vastly used in agricultural processes in Ecuador due to its capacity to help in the harvesting process of crops and vegetables (even in banana plantations). Bamboo also has an iron-like resistance at a fraction of its weight, and great flexibility
At Kuychi Arts, we create objects that are made completely from bamboo with 2 different finishes: Mate with bee wax or brilliant with laquer.
Our artisans cultivate, harvest and control all the production process of building the articles guaranteeing no negative environmental impact and carefully monitoring and promoting the sustainability of the bamboo trees.
